Southern Fried Chicken American Recipe

We were invited to the celebration of citizenship on Saturday. A couple from France, with whom we are friends, have just become U.S. citizens, and threw a big party to celebrate.

Many recipes are of different origin, we had to think of a recipe that was definitely an American. It took a little thought, because apart from being an American recipe, but needed to be an important requirement, because our friends really understand food

We decided to share a special recipe:

Southern Fried Chicken

Ingredients:

2 ½ -3 pounds chicken, cut up

3 cups buttermilk

salt

2 onions, sliced ​​thin

1 cup flour

3 tsp. Kosher or sea salt

½ c. Tea. cayenne pepper

C. 1 Tea. black pepper

1 cup vegetable shortening

½ cup butter

Preparation:

Step 1. Place chicken in a bowl and sprinkle with salt and let stand for 2 hours

Step 2 Remove the salt water rinse

Step 3 Return chicken to skillet and cover with onions and buttermilk

Step 4. Cover and refrigerate overnight

Step 5 Place the flour, salt (3 teaspoons) of Cayenne and black pepper the book in a plastic bag and shake to mix.
